My 30th Birthday

Me and the kids with my cake.
I'm 3!

Well, I can't say that it all started off very good that Monday morning of my 30th birthday. I was kind of dreading the day I was to start a new decade of my life. On top of that, I woke up feeling awful...like sick to my stomach and thinking I was going to throw up the majority of the day. I got many well wishes that day which was nice. My kids were even extra good that day.

I knew Jonathan and I were scheduled to go out for dinner and he was coming home with a birthday cake, so by 4, I willed myself to feel somewhat better. When he came home with yummy Cold Stone Creamer strawberry birthday cake, I just knew I could stomach it! So, then he went and got the babysitter and we headed off to Red Lobster...my favorite restaurant.

Let me tell you a little side story. I have thrown Jonathan three surprise parties in the nine years we've been together...he's thrown me "0"! So, last year when he turned 30, I told him he definitely owed me. However, considering my birthday is smack-dab in the middle of show choir season, I never really expected anything.

So, as we were driving to Red Lobster, I said with much sarcasm, so honey, I would like you to throw me a party someday...when you're not too good!! He just looked at me and smiled. We got rock star parking at the restaurant, not very busy...it was a Monday! We walked in and the waitress asked if it was just us two. I said yes and then looked into the seating area and thought I saw someone who looked like Kendra...what a coincidence...why would she...wait, there's Tiff and Trent...OH MY GOSH! HE GOT ME! Jonathan, my wonderful husband of almost seven years pulled it off! I had absolutely no idea! They sang to me as I got to the table-there was about 12 people there! My face turned red, I'm sure, but I was SOOO happy!

We had a great time. Yes, my tummy was still a little iffy and I didn't thoroughly enjoy my food like I normally get to at Red Lobster, but that was made up for by the great company I enjoyed! I got a lot of great cards and a few presents (not expected!). Thank you everyone who came to celebrate with me. Oh, and I learned something, 30 is the new 20, so guess what I am only 20!!
Just me!
And, it wasn't so bad turning 30. Although the days since then have not really been great. Friday, the 13th, we were supposed to leave to go to IA for a show choir competition and LPS decided to cancel school because of the threat of snow later on Friday. We were all extremely disappointed. We ended up getting the ok to leave Saturday morning from the administrators, so it was back to happy! Then, after Alana's nap, I went to get her out of her crib and she was wheezing and barely able to breath. We didn't know if she swallowed something of what! Very scary. We had to bring her to Urgent Care because our pediatricians office was closed. They diagnosed her with RSV, even thought she test negative for it. They did chest x-rays to make sure she didn't have pneumonia and that came back ok. We were to give her breathing treatments and keep an eye on her. Needless to say, there would be no trip for me and her. Elliott still went with Jonathan as he was really looking forward to hanging out with Gma and Gpa D.

It's been a LONG 9 days of sickness here. Alana's fever finally broke Wednesday, which was about the time Elliott got sick. His fever hasn't been nearly as bad and I think he's on the upswing, but I am making him lay low one more day to make sure. I kind of feel like a prisoner in my own home.
